The developer experience for Vue is great but the upgrade path from older versions has been horrible. For that reason alone I don’t think I can recommend Vue for anything other than hobby apps because it’s not maintainable long term.

React itself went through a transformation from class to functional components and only now -- several years later -- finished updating their documentation.

I've upgraded from 2 to 3 very seamlessly a few of months ago. I think it depends on the application and the amount of dependencies you might have, I wouldn't say Vue is the problem.
