Best vision board apps in 2023 to help you achieve your goals
If you’re an ambitious minded person you’ve likely written down and planned out your goals on more than a few occasions. Quite often we tend to do this sort of exercise when the new year rolls around or we reach a crossroads in our life and have some time to reflect.
A vision board (also known as a dream board) is a great way to record your ambitions and desires. It acts as a visual reminder of your life goals.
Recording your ambitions is often the first and most important step in goal setting. After all, if you’re not clear on what you want in life then how can you expect to achieve it?
However, it’s not enough to just write you goals on a piece of paper and stuff them in a drawer, if you really want to have a chance of reaching your goals you must do a bit more work than that. Having a good understanding of why you want to achieve a particular goal is just as important, if not more so. To make the commitment to work towards a difficult goal you need to have a strong emotional attachment to your goal and real understand the underlying motivations behind it.
In addition, you need to keep your goals in the forefront of your mind, so that every day you can take small consistent actions to reach your goals. Consistency is key. Let’s say your goal is to lose 10 kgs within 3 months, well you can’t just start your diet and exercise program in the last few weeks!
This is where a vision board comes in handy. We all carry a smart phone in our pockets these days so what better place to record and regularly review your dreams?
So, let’s look at what apps are available and how they stack up against each other.
1. Sparkello
Price: Free. Available for iOS, Android, and Web.
Sparkello’s sleek and simple interface is perfect for anyone who wants to create a digital dream board quickly and easily.
Simply write down your dreams, goal and ambitions then add your picture. You can select from the image gallery, upload your own, or search images based on keywords.
If you’re stretched for ideas, Sparkello also contains a broad selection of Sparks which you can add to your own dream board, as well as relevant articles and information.
Best of all Sparkello is completely free which sets it apart from many of the vision board apps in this category.
Sparkello is available on iOS, Android, and Web.
2. Canva
Price: Free with limited content, $17.99 a month for Canva Pro. Available for iOS, Android, and Web.
Canva isn’t specifically a vision board app, it’s a graphic design tool, but if you would like to create a striking and highly visually appealing dream board image then Canva might be a good option.
With Canva you can lay out your images, apply text, and add different styles. There are a lot of great templates to start from and stock images to choose from. If you simply search for “vision board” in Canva’s search bar you will find many templates that will help you get started, however several of them are only available with a Canva Pro subscription.
Canva does have iOS and Android apps available, but personally I prefer to use Canva via its website. It can take a bit of work to get your vision board looking good, but if you know your away around image editing tools and have the time to spend on laying it out just right then Canva is a good tool for the job. When you’re done you can export your image and save it to your photos.
3. Visuapp
Price: Free with in app purchases, Feng-Shui board feature $4.49, Gratitude Journal $2.99
Visuapp takes a simple grid layout approach. There doesn’t appear to be any ability to search for stock images, so you’ll need to use your own photos or search for them elsewhere.
Visuapp also has a Gratitude Journal and Feng-Shui board functions that can be unlocked through in app purchases.
4. Corkulous
Price: Free version limited to 3 boards and 10 items. Corkulous Pro allows unlimited boards and items for $3.49 a month/$24.49 a year.
Corkulous is a digital representation of a cork board. Personally, I don’t find this type of layout to be particularly appealing, but it may be of use to some people. You can make some fairly complex layouts with Corkulous but the interface can be a little bit difficult to use, especially on an iPhone. It would likely work a lot better on an iPad.
One downside is that it’s only available to Apple users on iPhone and iPad, so it’s not an option for Android users.
5. Hay House Vision Board App
Price: Free with in-app purchases, Unlimited boards unlocked for $2.99
Hay House Vision Board uses the digital cork board approach of Corckulous, but is more feature rich. It allows you to select pictures and overlay text of any colour. It also allows you to record voice memos against each note.
The drawback to this app is that the user interface can be quite difficult to use because it is so packed full of features, and rearranging the layout can be difficult at times.
6. iWish
Price: Free with in-app purchases.
Like Sparkello in some respects, iWish provides vision board functionality as well as an ideas section to help you with your goal setting.
The ideas section seems to be quite well thought out with hundreds of various inspiration ideas listed.
The design of the of the overall app is a little dated though, and if you use it on a newer iPhone or Android phone with a notch, there visible black bars in the display. It appears the app hasn’t been updated in over 4 years so that is probably why.
Not a bad app, but not quite as polished as some of the others in this list.
7. Vision Board Law of Attraction
This app is really on included in this list for completeness as it comes up at the top of search results when you look at the iOS App Store, but it’s unfortunately one of the buggiest apps in this category.
In terms of layout, it’s very similar to Visuapp, so if you’re interested in that sort of layout, you would be better off going with that one.
This app doesn’t have a homepage, but you can find it directly on the App Store and Google Play.
Conclusion
A lot of options here but only a few clear winners. Sparkello is clearly the best option if you’re after a simple and effective app aimed directly at recording you dreams. Canva is a great option if you are more interested in making a striking image collage, but this will likely take you more time.
